How does it work?

Simple one-time set-up - Robomow requires a one time simple set-up, which can easily be done by the consumer himself. A standard electric wire is laid around the outer edges of the lawn, and attached to the surface of the lawn with pegs every few meters. The wire and pegs are supplied with the unit in the same box. The wire is connected to the Base Station or to a small battery powered current source called Perimeter Switch. Typically the wire will be covered by grass and become unnoticeable in a matter of 2-3 weeks. Robomow recognizes the wire using a special sensor, and makes sure it always stays inside.

Robomow is able to cover large lawns of 1200m² - 1600m² with the RL1000. It can read the signal of the perimeter wire even when it is up to 25 meters away from the nearest perimeter wire. The perimeter wire can be as long as 600 meter in one loop.

Weekly program - The Robomow RL1000 include a Base Station and provide the ultimate solution in lawn maintenance! After completing the one-time set-up of wire around the lawn including the Base Station, set the weekly program and forget about mowing for the entire season! Robomow will automatically depart at the day and time scheduled and automatically return to the Base Station to recharge and get ready for the next scheduled operation.

It will remain connected to the Base Station at all times (when not mowing the lawn) getting ready and charged before leaving for the next mowing session. The Base Station has a built-in perimeter switch that will turn on automatically when Robomow is scheduled for operation. At the end of each operation, when Robomow returns to the Base Station, the perimeter switch will turn itself off. In addition to the fully automated mode the RL1000 can also be initiated by pressing the GO button, as in the RL550 and RL850.

Having an automatic weekly program assures that the lawn will never over-grow and will always look nice and neat. The weekly program can be changed at any time, if and when required. When the lawn is growing faster, more frequent sessions are required. The lawn will never over-grow and will look as if it was just cut, every day!

Grasscycling - Robomow cuts the grass into very small clippings that are buried in the roots of the lawn, where they decompose and act like a natural fertilizer. Grass clippings contain 80-85% water and release valuable nutrients that return back into the soil. It is the natural recycling of grass.

Other Robomow models (RL550 and RL850) that do not come with a Base Station, are operated by pressing the green "Go" button on the unit. Robomow travels on the lawn covering the lawn several times from side to side to ensure that the entire yard is covered and the grass is cut from several angles.

Robomow RL550/850 are provided with an integral manual controller that is used to drive the unit from the storage area to the lawn before operation and back to storage after operation. The manual controller also allows the user to use Robomow as a manual mower in order to cut areas of the grass that could not be reached in the automatic operation if necessary.

User Interface - Robomow has an intuitive and easy-to use user interface, including setting options, diagnostics and error messages.

Charging - While in storage, the unit is connected to a power supply in order to recharge its battery. Recharging typically takes up to 20 hours (depending on the model), so Robomow is ready to run the next day.

Rain Sensor - RL1000 units are equipped with a rain sensor to prevent mowing wet grass. The rain sensor feature enables Robomow to detect rain and skip or stop the operation as it is detected. User may turn the rain sensor feature off, if she/he wants Robomow to continue working even when it rains.

Illuminated display - For improved user convenience, the display of the LCD in all Robomow models are illuminated, enabling reading in darkness.
